DISC-TBI empowers KinetiCar Squad thru 3-Day Mentoring Sessions on Creating and Presenting an Elevator Pitch

To prepare the KinetiCar Squad for their pitch presentation at Tech Venture Meetup 2024 on January 17, 2023, at MRANTI Park, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the DOST ISU Smart City Technology Business Incubator (DISC-TBI), led by its Project Lead, Dr. Betchie Aguinaldo, initiated three days of mentoring sessions from January 10-12, 2024.

This intensive 3-day mentoring session focused on drafting the pitch deck, refining the script, and honing their pitch delivery skills. The team sent their pitch deck to the mentor the day before the said mentoring for evaluation. On day 1, Mr. Tad Estanislao, one of the DISC-TBI mentors, guided the team through presenting the essential outlines of a pitch deck and its contents. Mr. Estanislao provided feedback on their draft, suggesting revisions such as improving conciseness of thoughts and addressing technicalities like pitch deck template design and flow. He also shared his experience in pitching to investors.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aguinaldo reminded the team to be prepared, emphasizing the limited 3-minute time allotted for their presentation. She emphasized the importance of capturing and maintaining the attention of investors, their primary audience. She also highlighted that this event offers a valuable opportunity to showcase their ideas and innovation to venture capitalists.

Day 2 was dedicated to revising their pitch deck based on the comments and recommendations of the mentor. On the third day, Mr. Jr Palatao, the representative of KinetiCar, presented the revised pitch deck. While the presentation was well-written and organized, it exceeded the allotted time, lasting 5 minutes. Mr. Estanislao suggested focusing on hitting the target time, encouraging them to emphasize important details and minimize the time spent on the video showcasing the features of their technology. The revised pitch deck was submitted before the deadline.

The Tech Venture Meetup Malaysia 2024 brings together Tech Planter Alumni and deep tech startups, providing a platform for exploring funding opportunities with venture capitalists, engaging with angel investors, fostering potential collaborations with corporate partners, and leveraging support from government agencies. The goal is to propel businesses to new heights by facilitating meaningful connections and strategic partnerships.
