The DOST ISU Smart City Technology Business Incubator was honored with the Rookie TBI Award from DOST PCIEERD HEI Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship – 2.0 . The award was presented during the HIHEIRIT PAMORE Commencement Program at the Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Center, Miriam College, Quezon City, December 15.
DISC-TBI secured the prestigious award for achieving the highest number of partnerships and implementing tangible processes beyond training. These efforts resulted in the successful establishment of a promising startup within the framework of the Handholding Starting Incubators from HEIs for readiness towards Innovation and Technopreneurship Preparatory and Acceleration for TBI Managers Optimizing Regional Startup Ecosystem (HIHEIRIT PAMORE) Program.
In addition to winning the Rookie TBI Award, DISC-TBI was nominated in two categories: the Philippine Ecosystem Builder Award and the Outstanding TBI On-Training Award.
Dr. Betchie Aguinaldo, DISC-TBI Project Lead, was also appointed as one of the Firechat Speakers at the event.
Meanwhile, the agency also recognized Isabela State University for successfully completing the 17-month Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Technology Business Incubator Training for Universities and Colleges under the DOST-PCIEERD Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship Program (HEIRIT 2.0). These recognitions were received by Dr. Precy Delima , ISU Cauayan Executive Officer, Dr. Betchie Aguinaldo, DISC-TBI Project Lead, Dr. Arnel Fajardo, DISC-TBI Manager and Ms. Raquel B. Santos, DOST R2 Smart Focal Person.
Among the 27 TBIs in the Philippines, DISC-TBI is one of the three awardees for this year’s commencement program. DISC-TBI strives hard to spread awareness in the Cagayan Valley Region about the existence of the Smart City TBI, aiming to strengthen the Startup Economy and contribute to achieving SDG9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) for job creation.
